Ross and Hitachi form technology partnership

Ross Video and Hitachi Kokusai Electric America have formed a non-exclusive technology partnership to explore emerging production technologies. At the 2016 NAB Show the companies will show innovations in IP connectivity, control between acquisition and production devices.

With industry focus on high resolution / high frame rate production systems for 4K, 8K, HDR and IP connectivity, collaboration on the design of new image capture devices, production switching and processing equipment will allow the development of a new generation of media production tools.

The two companies are also members of the ASPEN IP community and will have cameras and production switchers on the show floor demonstrating IP connectivity between capture and production devices.

“In todays environment no company can be an island. Collaboration with industry peers is essential to not only leverage expertise, but also to drive more quickly to the goal of common shared standards and platforms,” stated David Ross, CEO of Ross Video.

“The broadcast infrastructure continues to evolve with the proliferation of high-end formats, and the quickly accelerating migration from legacy to networked video and audio systems,” said HITACHI CEO Hiroaki Ohashi. “Common interconnects and control protocols are essential in creating efficient workflows and providing the highest quality results.”

Hitachi will demonstrate system wide camera setup and control via the Ross DashBoard control system, fully integrated with Ross robotics camera control systems. The company has developed 4K and 8K camera platforms that will be on the show floor at NAB, as well both Ross and Hitachi will be demonstrating UHD production, and utilizing each others products.
