Tbilisi opera house selects Salzbrenner Stagetec

The opera house in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, is being equipped with an audio, video and stage management system from Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup as part of its refurbishment.

The installation will include an Auratus mixing console (picture) with Nexus audio network for sound reinforcement in the theatre, and a stage management system from the PerformanCeTRL product line. It comprises components from the oratis intercom series, which provides all the audio functions and extensive logic programming, while MediaControl handles control — a symbiosis which also deals with the cue light signals for the many lights labelled in Georgian characters. A video infrastructure with cameras and monitor screens complements the stage manager system. Mediagroup was commissioned to do the planning, supply and install all audio and video hardware.

The building, which is fully gutted at present, sits roughly 800 in a large hall and was opened in 1896. It is scheduled to reopen after complete refurbishment in the second half of 2014. (5/14)
