Broadcast Minds in Vegas

NAB Show is bringing back last year's highest-rated session Broadcast Minds presented by NewTek. This year's session on April 9 in Las Vegas moderated by actor, comedian and host Tom Green, will take a look at some of the top creators of digital content: Criss Angel, the illusionist of A&E's "MINDFREAK", Rob Barnett from My Damn Channel and Cali Lewis, Host of GeekBeat TV.

Each speaker will guide the audience through their various approaches to creating top-notch, high quality programming built to live online. Additionally, attendees will walk away with first-hand knowledge of how these creators build, sustain and grow their audiences while effectively monetizing their projects. NewTek will live stream the session at NAB Show. "As storytellers increasingly turn to the Internet to build and cultivate audiences on a global scale, it's no surprise that last year's Broadcast Minds discussion received such high marks from NAB Show attendees," said Philip Nelson, chief relationship officer at NewTek.

Here are the 2014 Broadcast Minds Panelists:

Criss Angel has dominated the world of magic for over a decade. His numerous awards include Magician of the Century. Angel's role as star, creator, executive producer and director of the hit A&E television series, "Criss Angel MINDFREAK," the most successful magic show in television history, led Angel to launch his 2013 Spike TV show, "Criss Angel BeLIEve." Additionally, Angel is the most watched magician in Internet history. His clips have generated more than 220 million views. In 2008, Angel partnered with Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts International to serve as writer, director and illusion designer, "Criss Angel BeLIEve," which will continue through 2018.

Rob Barnett is founder and CEO of My Damn Channel, an entertainment studio and distributor of premium content. Since 2007, Barnett's team has built MyDamnChannel.com into a successful TV network where established and emerging talent from film, TV, the Internet, fans and advertisers create original programming. Barnett has created content with hundreds of diverse communicators including Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla and Johnny Rotten. He was president of programming for CBS Radio and a senior production and programming executive at MTV and VH1 for over 11 years.

Tom Green is perhaps best known for his unpredictable personality on MTV and his eclectic roles in films including "Road Trip" and "Freddy Got Fingered." He has graced the cover of Rolling Stone, commandeered the coveted guest host chair on "The Late Show with David Letterman," and conquered the World Wide Web with his popular Internet talk show, "Tom Green's House Tonight." Green brings his unique brand of hilarity to the art of stand-up comedy in his one-hour special, taped in 2012 at Boston's Wilbur Theater and currently airing on Showtime. Since its launch in early 2013, the Tom Green Radio podcast has consistently been one of the most downloaded podcasts on iTunes.

Cali Lewis has become a household name in the tech industry. Her podcasts have been viewed hundreds of millions of times over the last eight years. Lewis, a noted industry commentator, makes regular appearances on BBC, CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, MSNBC and Sirius. Lewis is president of Livid Lobster, LLC, Geek Beat's parent company. (3/14)
