Ericsson’s Media Vision 2020

At IBC 2014, Ericsson will show its integrated set of solutions and services and will demonstrate its position at the convergence of media and mobility (stand 1.D61). The company, that has recently acquired Azuki Systems, Microsoft Mediaroom and Red Bee Media, will also present its Media Vision 2020, which maps out the future of TV over the next six years.

According to a press release, Ericsson is deepening its TV and broadcast offerings in the so-called Networked Society, where 50 billion connected devices, of which 15 billion are video-enabled, are plugged into a global IP network.

At IBC 2014 in Amsterdam, Ericsson for example will illustrate how the Mediaroom integration is allowing it to enable Pay TV at web speed through new and innovative technologies which are redefining consumer TV viewing experiences, combining the service quality and content depth of Pay TV with the interactivity and multiscreen capabilities of OTT video.

At the show, the company will discuss how its acquisition of Red Bee Media is enabling it to re-invent services and it will showcase demonstrations from all major portfolio lines, including media management, playout, OTT, content discovery and access services. Ericsson will also highlight how it is ensuring the highest quality and efficiency of video delivery through its ability to make every network video centric. (8/14)
